What is AromaTherapy Massage?
Aromatherapy massage is a Swedish holistic massage, which combines the use of oils that contain essential oils. Essential oils are highly concentrated plant oils.
Essential oils can be mixed to suit the clients needs by a qualified aroma therapist. Or we can also use pre-blended oils, which saves us having to stock lots of different oils.
During an aromatherapy massage you absorb these essential oil molecules through your skin. They are thought to promote beneficial changes in your mind and body, by affecting the limbic system, which is a region of the brain known to influence the nervous system.
WhY DO PEOPLE GET AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE'S?
Each essential oil used in aromatherapy is said to have different properties, for example some calm and make you feel relaxed while others energize.
The massage techniques used during aroma therapy massage are the same as Swedish and holistic massage.
The aim for the treatment is to maximize the combined effects of the essential oils and massage. The treatment should be relaxing with gentle flowing motions, which allow the essential oils to be absorbed into the skin.
At the Body Wellness Clinic, we use high quality pre-blended aromatherapy oils. We have our oils made with grape seed carrier oil instead of sweet almond oil, so even those with a nut allergy can enjoy an aroma therapy massage with out any adverse effects.
